How to measure your foot circumference for barefoot shoes and the like.
1. Place the tape measure under the ball of your foot, where your toes begin.
2. Stand up before taking the measurement – this is the only way to get your foot’s true ball measurement.
3. Wrap the tape measure loosely around your foot and read the measurement.
How does the ball measurement help you choose the right size or style?
Your foot width / foot circumference will tell you whether you have a narrow, standard or wide foot.
You have a...
1. Narrow foot (F): No problem – for our barefoot shoes, we specify the volume of the toe box in the technical details for each model – the ‘narrow-normal’ volume is ideal for you. For all other models, please refer to the guidance in the size chart. If necessary, it may be worth placing a thin cork insole (cut to size if required) 2 mm thick under the main insole; this will reduce the shoe’s volume. Please feel free to contact us directly about this.
2. Normal foot (G): It’s all straightforward – you should be able to order Doghammer shoes without any issues and don’t need to worry about anything else.
3. Wide feet (H): No problem – for our barefoot shoes, we specify the volume of the toe box in the technical details for each model – the ‘normal-wide’ volume is ideal for you. Generally speaking, barefoot shoes offer you significantly more volume than our conventional models. However, we can make our standard shoes fit you – simply order the 2.5 mm cork insole as well – this is significantly thinner than the standard 4.5 mm insole, which increases the shoe’s volume.
Please note: In some cases, our size charts specify the volume of the toe box – this is intended as a rough guide – the actual (perceived) volume of the toe box is always slightly larger, as the materials give way!
