What exactly are women’s approach shoes, and what makes our shoes so special?
If you’re looking for sturdy and safe shoes for your outdoor adventures, our sustainable approach shoes for women are the perfect choice. Also known as approach shoes, these combine the features of sturdy low-cut shoes with those of climbing and hiking boots, offering a secure grip on varied terrain – whether tarmac, scree, forest floor, rocks or meadows.
Our range of sustainable approach shoes for women offers the right model for every type of outdoor enthusiast. Whilst the Guides are suitable for light hiking and trekking, the Ginja Rock models are perfect for approaching the crags. The stiffer sole of the Ginja Rock offers greater stiffness in the forefoot, whilst the Guide, with its softer sole, is better suited to long hikes. Discover our wide range of sustainable approach shoes for women now and find your ideal outdoor companion.
What features do our sustainable approach shoes for women offer?
Our sustainable approach shoes for women are the perfect all-round footwear for all your outdoor adventures. Whether you’re out on trekking and hiking trips (Ginja Rock LT) or need a reliable approach shoe for your climbing excursions (Ginja Rock WP) – our shoes are flexible and functional. Thanks to their comfortable fit, you’re sure to wear them regularly on your hiking trips. As well as their outdoor capabilities, we also prioritise sustainability in our hiking shoes. We use high-quality natural and recycled materials, such as leather, recycled cotton, vegan leather and recycled cork. The materials vary depending on the model. We place great importance on ensuring our supply chain is as transparent as possible, which is why, for the first time with the Ginja Rock WP, we’ve listed all suppliers and transport routes for the main materials. This way, you know exactly what’s in your shoe. Our new Ginja range is also re-solable, allowing you to enjoy your shoes for a long time to come. All our women’s approach shoes feature a removable insole made from EVA and recycled cork. An integrated cushioning pad ensures that your steps are optimally cushioned and the strain on your joints is reduced. Our shoes are handcrafted in a family-run workshop in Portugal under fair and socially responsible conditions.
What types of activities are our women’s approach shoes suitable for?
Our sustainable approach shoes for women are suitable for any terrain and prove to be reliable companions on hikes, rock approaches or extended trekking tours. To give you a firm and secure grip on your adventures, we’ve fitted our approach shoes with a Vibram sole. What’s more, the soles of our Ginja Rock models feature a climbing zone, which is particularly advantageous for climbing sections. Our approach shoes cut a fine figure not only on the mountain but also in everyday life. Our lightweight and sporty Ginja Rock LT models are particularly well-suited for this. They feature an upper made from recycled cotton, which makes the shoe lightweight and suitable for everyday wear. We offer another everyday option with our sustainable trainers for women. These, too, are made from high-quality natural and recycled materials and are perfect for your next cycle ride, the office or an evening out with your girls. If you prefer ankle-high hiking boots for hiking and trekking, we recommend our waterproof women’s hiking boots.
What sets our sustainable approach shoes apart from our other models?
Unlike our sustainable trainers, which are designed for everyday wear, our approach shoes are designed for use in the mountains, on trekking tours or for the approach to a crag. As a hybrid of hiking and climbing boots, they offer you even greater sure-footedness, comfort and functionality whilst out and about in nature. Only recycled and natural materials are used in the production of our approach shoes – leather, recycled cotton, vegan leather and cork are the main materials used. If you value functional footwear, our sustainably and fairly produced approach shoes are also ideal for everyday urban wear thanks to their exceptional comfort. Their design is appealing – and their comfort speaks for itself! Especially if you’re on your feet a lot, you’ll benefit from their lightweight, sturdy construction and optimal cushioning. Discover our Guides and our Ginja Rock now as reliable companions for any kind of adventure!
What materials are our sustainable approach shoes made from?
The main materials used in our women’s approach shoes consist largely of sustainable, natural or recycled materials. For example, our Guides feature a Vibram sole that contains recycled rubber granules. We’ve also opted for a Vibram sole on our Ginja Rock. This is the first Doghammer shoe to feature a sole that can be easily resoleed. What’s more, the sole on this approach shoe features a climbing zone, which is particularly advantageous for via ferrata routes. The upper materials vary across our approach shoes. Whilst our Ginja Rock WP features high-quality leather from Spain and Portugal, our Ginja Rock LT is made from recycled cotton and our Guides from vegan leather. The upper material may vary depending on the model. Our shoes feature a drawstring at the back for convenient hanging. The inner lining is made from recycled cotton, which is breathable and helps keep your feet dry and comfortable. To ensure your feet are comfortable in these approach shoes, they feature a removable insole made from recycled cork and EVA. We collect some of the cork for this insole ourselves. You can get involved too. Discover our Cork Collect Challenge now.
