Barefoot shoes made from genuine wool
At Doghammer, you’ll find wool barefoot shoes that offer the best foot climate! This is down to the combination of real wool and cork. We use wool for our barefoot shoes not only as an inner lining but also as an outer material. The wool for our barefoot shoes comes, amongst other sources, from the indigenous Portuguese Merino sheep and is processed there by Nordwolle.

What makes Doghammer’s wool barefoot shoes so special?
The idea behind wool barefoot shoes is to recreate the sensation of walking without shoes whilst still providing your feet with adequate protection. However, these wool barefoot shoes impress not only with their natural walking sensation, but also with their unique foot climate. This is thanks to the wool material. Wool is antibacterial, temperature-regulating and helps regulate moisture levels inside the shoe. Wool barefoot shoes can therefore be worn in any season; whether in summer or winter, the wool always ensures the perfect foot climate. Combined with the insole made from recycled cork, we can promise the very best foot climate!
Where are the wool barefoot shoes made?
The wool barefoot shoes are handmade in Portugal. We have been working there since 2019 with a family-run shoe manufacturer near Porto. Portugal has long been known as a nation of shoemakers, so it is home not only to production facilities but also to the right suppliers. Our sole supplier for the wool barefoot shoes is located just 80 km from our production facility. This means we can not only guarantee fair and transparent production, but also short transport distances from our suppliers to the shoe manufacturer. Our hiking boots with wool linings are also manufactured at this facility.
Where does the wool for the barefoot shoes come from?
We source the wool for our barefoot shoes from our North German supplier, Nordwolle. They mainly process wool from sheep used for landscape conservation in northern Germany. For our woollen barefoot shoes, however, we source the wool from their partner shepherds in Portugal. The native Merino sheep are also kept there as landscape conservation sheep and are used to maintain the cork oak forests. This suits us down to the ground, as it means we have a very short transport route between the sheep and our production facility. You can also find our Merino barefoot shoes here.
What’s the best way to clean the woollen barefoot shoes?
If there’s absolutely no other option, you can, as a last resort, put the woollen barefoot shoes in the washing machine on the ‘wool cycle’. However, we recommend avoiding this, as the woollen barefoot shoes will suffer even on a gentle wash cycle. A better method is to remove any coarse dirt from the barefoot shoes using lukewarm water and a soft cloth. You’re also welcome to treat them with a care product. For woollen barefoot shoes, it’s advisable to use a care product that contains natural wool grease (lanolin). In general, you’ll find that woollen barefoot shoes are significantly less prone to soiling than any other textile shoes; this is due to wool’s ‘self-cleaning effect’.
Ja, Woll Barfußschuhe kannst du problemlos ohne Socken tragen.
